  • A beautiful, peaceful town sitting in the shadow of Menorca’s highest point – the imposing Mount Toro – the town boasts all sorts of attractions for visitors to enjoy, uncluding an authentic Menorcan restaurant set inside a restored windmill, and a beautiful local church with murals adorning the walls. The name ‘Es Mercadel’ derives from the Latin word ‘mercatum’, meaning market. In 1301, King James II of Menorca decided to establish a public centre of commerce on the island, and the bustling open air marketplace of Es Mercadel remains a popular place to visit on Menorca holidays, even in modern times.

Menorca’s third largest town, Alaior is famous as home to the island’s cheese-making facilities, a fact which makes it a popular place to visit for travellers of all ages who enjoy sampling fine cheeses! The local produce can be purchased at the town’s daily food market, and makes a wonderful treat on your Menorca holidays. There is also the opportunity to find local handicrafts, clothes, and jewellery at the market, and the town has a cultural museum and even an art and sculpture gallery. Alaior is also popular with walkers and nature-lovers for its nearby trails, which are rich in bird life and wooded areas.

Established in the 18th century, Es Migjorn Gran is characterised by attractive whitewashed buildings with large porches and wooden shutters, which give the whole town an air of ‘classical Menorca’. It’s noted for a bohemian atmosphere and a number of artists live and exhibit their work in the village – making it a quirky and character-filled place to explore on your Menorca holidays. There’s plenty to see and do around the area – give it a chance, and see what you can find.

  • A condominium is the form of accommodating term where a particular part of a piece of real estate (usually an apartment) is independently owned, whereas the access to regular services in the piece, such as hallways, cooling system, heating system, and elevators, is effected under legal rights and controlled by the group of owners that jointly stand for ownership of the whole land.

An apartment is a full accommodation terrain which is owned by developers who take care of the external property as well. These developers can actually rent individual units of the apartment to tenants.

You can rent an apartment as well as you can rent a condo. The two main differences between the two are; an apartment building bears a sole deed of trust that includes the properties as a whole. A condo bears an independent deed of trust for each unit. It is actually possible for a lone purchaser to own every unit in a condo and then use it in the same manner as an apartment.

The differences are purely official; you can’t only look at the building and tell whether if it’s an apartment or a condo. Many times, a developer will obtain an apartment building and change the independent units in to condos by taking them up to the city code and providing them for sale.

There are certainly some advantages and disadvantages to renting an apartment over renting a condo, and hopefully this article will shed some light on the apartment vs. condo rental issues and help you with your concluding decision.

  • A wonderful blend of “Old World” and modern attractions, Cornwall offers something for everyone. Oceanside villages such as St. Ives, Truro, Falmouth and St. Austell offer splendid beachfronts, suitable for a picnic along with a day of fun and sun, or if a longer stay is desired, rental properties are readily available. These accommodations are varied both in size and location, with most offering spectacular views of the breath-taking Cornwall sunrises and sunsets. There are a variety of museums in the area for the “artsy” tourist, as well as meticulously tended and lush country gardens for those who prefer to visit the region’s natural splendours.

Historic (as well as prehistoric) sites dot the countryside, and visitors who gravitate to collecting photos of their travels will find ample opportunities in Cornwall’s abundant moorlands and picturesque wooded valleys. A more recent popular attraction is the Eden Project, which boasts the world’s largest greenhouse. Plants from all over the world are on display in the Project’s biomes. Visitors can view “up close and personal” unique plant specimens that ordinarily would require extensive travel and expense to catch a glimpse of.

For splendid “digs”, visitors have their choice of luxury hotels in Cornwall. The Royal Duchy on Falmouth’s seafront offers not only spectacular views across the Carlyon Bay, but is the equal of any luxury resort in the U.K. when it comes to service and amenities. Other top-flight hotels located in and around Cornwall include the Carlyon Bay Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort, the Green Lawns Hotel and the Metropole.

For a taste of classic British country living, head North towards the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. An excellent starting point is Bourton-on-the-Water. Almost like stepping back in time, Bourton is highlighted by numerous stone arched bridges over the River Windrush. Surrounded by well-maintained walking and biking paths, this tiny village provides a pastoral setting that is conducive for relaxation and sightseeing. Another “must-see” is the Cotswold Wildlife Park in Burford. Featuring over 250 different species of animals, the Wildlife Park allows visitors to witness such exotic animals as zebras, rhinos, crocodiles, snakes, sloths and lemurs. For the adventurous, venture into the Bat Cave or take a guided tour on rail around the more than 160 acres. In addition, the Parks’ collection of birds and reptiles is among the most extensive found in the U.K.

For accommodations, the Cotswolds provide numerous luxury hotels as well as country manors for those seeking an extended holiday. The Arden Hotel, regularly selected as one of Great Britain’s Most Romantic Hotels, has long been a tourist favourite.
